Early Position Limping… Just Don’t

Early Position Limping…Just Don’t I’ve noticed a new trend from a lot of new poker online players that is costing them a lot of money. Limping. Don’t get me wrong, limping has it’s place in your online poker gameevery once in a while. It’s a necessary evil to keep things switched up and keep your opponents off track. The problem is, I’m seeing it happen way more than it should out of position. If you want to limp marginal cards on the button at Everest Poker telecharger when the price is right, that’s one thing. The major downfall I’m seeing lately is the influx of under the gun limping. So I’m going to try to clarify why you shouldn’t do this often, if at all. First things first, limping signifies weakness or a trap under the gun, at least to experienced players. The first time you do it, we’ll be weary of you thinking you’re setting up a check-raise and may proceed with caution. The second time you do it, we’re going to expect that you have no idea how to play under the gun, and we’ll bet into you. If you play smart and 3-bet us, we may fold here. The third time you do it, you’re almost always going to show down if we have anything above a marginal hand. Ok so maybe I’m exaggerating a little there. But we’re noticing that you’re spewing a lot of chips in early position, a position that’s supposed to be reserved for good hands. By not respecting this position, you’re going to have people calling you more in a better position than you, and some regulars squeezing you quite a bit if you have two people in the pot. The reason this tactic is so bad is that no matter what you have, you’re creating negative situations. If you have a monster pocket pair, you’re pricing people in to play with you in a pot that should ideally be a heads up hand. The more hands you have in against you with a pocket pair, the more of a chance you have of getting drawn out on. If you have a marginal hand, you’ll have a hard time calling a raised or twice-raised pot with air when your opponents show strength and have position on you. So limp if you must, but at least do it with some tactical consideration. Have position on your opponents when you do.
