Below are your 45 easy steps to know how to remanufacture your HP 2500 LaserJet C9700A (black), C9701A (cyan), C9702A (yellow), & C9703A (magenta) toner cartridges.

Step #1:

•Gently set your toner cartridge on your workstation with the toner hopper contact end plate facing you.

Step #2:

•Take your #2 Phillips-head screwdriver and remove the two black screws from the end plate.

Note: The screw located just below the developer roller is longer than the other screws on the cartridge. Make sure the correct screw is used when reassembling the cartridge; otherwise the screw can jam and cause an invalid toner cartridge.

Step #3:

•Now, take out your #0 Phillips-head screwdriver and remove the small screw from the contact end plate.

Step #4:

•You should be able to slide the end plate away from the toner cartridge.

Step #5:

•Simply rotate the cartridge at 180 degrees. Remove the 2 screws holding the gear housing end cap to the toner hopper.

Step #6:

•Gently slide the gear housing end cap from the toner hopper.

Step #7:

•Remove the 5 gears from the end of the cartridge leaving the toner hopper agitator drive gear.

Step #8:

•The developer and roller end plate is held in place by 2 screws.

Step #9:

•Take your #0 Phillips-head screwdriver and remove the small silver screw.

Step #10:

•You can now slide the developer roller end plate from the side of the cartridge.

Step #11:

•Whatever you do - DO NOT lose the round bearing that sits inside the developer end plate.

Step #12:

•Rotate the cartridge at 180 degrees. Remove the screw holding the developer roller end plate to the hopper.

Step #13:

•Remove the end plate while holding the developer roller.

Step #14:

•Remove the developer roller. Next, remove the developer roller bearings from the ends of each roller.

Note: Again, whatever you do - DO NOT lose the round bearing that sits inside the end plate.

Note: Be sure to clean the developer using a lint-free cloth along with some alcohol.

Step #15:

•In order to lift the top cover of the hopper, you need to lift the back of the cover off the positioning post located on the backside of the hopper.

Step #16:

•At this point you can lift off the top cover.

Step #17:

•Simply remove the 2 screws holding the doctor blade.

Step #18:

•Each end of the doctor blades are adhered to the developer roller end felts. Using your X-acto knife cut the doctor blade away from the developer roller end felts.

Step #19:

•Disengage the contact spring from the end of the doctor blade.

Step #20:

•Lift up on the doctor blade and remove it from its place.

Step #21:

•On the ends of the doctor blade are filled with the same sticky foam found on the HP 4200 wiper blades. You need to clean the blade using water and a cotton swab. Make sure you do a thorough cleaning.

Step #22:

•For this step, you have to remove the feed roller end felts from the ends of the feed roller.

Step #23:

•Remove the toner hopper fill plug. Now clean the toner hopper using dry, compressed air or a vacuum.

Note: Please be very careful when leaning out the hopper. The slightest damage to the developer roller-sealing blade could cause the cartridge to leak. This can lead into a messy problem.

Step #24:

•Using your small flat-blade screwdriver, push the seal exit port plug out from the toner hopper.

Step #25:

•Take the edge of the seal and fold the corner over so that the liner sits above the top of the seal.

Step #26:

•Place the seal under the feed roller and press down on the end of the seal.

Step #27:

•Gently, yet very slowly pull the liner of the seal across the cartridge - exposing the adhesive.

Step #28:

•Firmly, press down along the edge of the seal to help the adhesive adhere to the hopper.

Step #29:

•Carefully slide the tail of the seal through the seal exit port and install the seal exit port plug.

Step #30:

•Fill the hopper with toner. Then, install the toner hopper fill plug.

Step #31:

•Patiently, remove the foam sealant from both ends of the toner hopper.

Step #32:

•Place the cleaned doctor blade onto the hopper. Install the 2 screws that hold the blade in place.

Step #33:

•Using your cotton swab, apply a dusting of toner (use the same color toner as the cartridge is geared for) to the contact surface of the holes found on each end of the doctor blade.

Step #34:

•Using your silicon or caulk, seal the ends of the doctor blade through the 2 holes found on each end of the doctor blade.

Step #35:

•Gently, place the doctor blade contact spring on the end of the doctor blade.

Step #36:

•Now install the feed roller felt washers onto the feed roller axle.

Step #37:

•You can now pour a small amount of toner onto a lint-free cloth. Apply the toner to the developer roller. Place the developer roller onto the toner hopper.

Step #38:

•Slide the developer roller end plate onto the contact side of the cartridge. Then, install the screw that holds the end plate in place.

Step #39:

•Again, slide the developer roller end plate onto the gear slide of the hopper. Then, install a standard screw and a small silver screw to hold the end plate in place.

Step #40:

•Now, place the top cover onto the toner hopper.

Step #41:

•For this step, you will need to install the gears onto the side of the hopper.

Step #42:

•Next, install the gear housing end cap onto the end cap onto the end of the cartridge. Install the fine threaded screw into the screw hole just below the drive gear and a standard cartridge screw into the screw hole toward the top of the end cap.

Step #43:

•Cautiously place the contact cap onto the other end cap of the cartridge.

Then, install the 3 screws that hold up the end cap in place. The large cartridge screw goes in the screw hole by the developer roller, the small silver screw in the screw hole on the bottom of the end cap and the standard cartridge screw goes in the hole toward the top of the end cap.

Step #44:

•Finally, your last but not least step is to replace the chip that can be found on the top of the toner hopper.

Step #45:

•Test the toner cartridge(s).

Note: Just so you know, the HP 2500 LaserJet printer takes the C9704A drum kit, which has a monthly duty cycle of 20,000 pages on the black and 5,000 pages on the colors.

Congratulations, you have successfully completed the process on how to remanufacture your own HP 2500 LaserJet C9700A, C9701A, C9702A, & C9703A toner cartridges.

Good luck and complete each cartridge as if it were your last. This information is provided to you for both educational purposes and to also improve your knowledge in the technical area within the remanufacturing industry.

Making Money with Exchange Rates

11/28/2008

Currency trading is establishing itself as one of the most prominent industries in today’s ever-connected globe. With countries trading, foreign currency currently has a good worth on the world stage and there are even some individuals who make it their job to purchase foreign currency.

Have you heard of foreign currency trading? Just like stocks buying and selling, foreign currency trading is the acquiring & selling of currency positions & people could make money because particular currencies enjoy different positions on the global marketplace. Quite obviously, if you are in the position where you are utilising American dollars, then you will not notice the difference, nonetheless, this particular business operates at its optimal level should you be exchanging, say, Aruba Guilders for Honduras Lempiras.

Currency exchange of course has a lot to do with trading of goods and services. Businesses which export their products abroad, are always paid foreign currency, which, obviously, they might often not be allowed to utilise in their home country, and so they get their money converted. Not taking this into account, the costs on the world-wide market place are prescribed by currency exchange, consequently they can lose money should their country’s currency has an undesirable position compared to the more powerful currencies, e.g. the United States dollar and Euro.

Foreign currency trading is obviously critically important when preparing for holidays. Obviously, if one skip over to Europe, then you need to get a bit of currency changed to Euros so that you will purchase more services. Of course, the US dollar is exchangeable nearly anywhere in the world, but there are a good number of countries where individuals and companies very much need the precise amount in payment for services. Purchasing services with United States dollars when you are in foreign lands will probably just cause trouble for other people as they too, will need to get the money exchanged. This is fast establishing itself as the main reason why most international transit hubs already enjoy currency trading services and as a result you will not be required to shop around the country searching for shops or individuals who will buy overseas currency. Also, there are also on line websites, which acquire overseas currency, and as a result you can have all your currency exchanged on the net and also withdraw any of the cash in local currency whenever and wherever you are located on the world. Trading in foreign currencies can be an easy way to make some extra money.

What You Need To Know About Choosing A Cell Phone Provider

11/26/2008

Cell phones have become an integral part of the daily lives of most consumers, and that means that the choice of which cell phone provider to use is a very important one. After all, the cell phone itself can only be as good as the network it is connected to. So here are a few important tips that you need to know about how to choose a cell phone service provider.

As far as performance and customer service are concerned, most consumer surveys that have been conducted in the last couple of years indicate that two cell phone companies seem to perform best overall, and that is Verizon and T-Mobile. Both Sprint and Cingular did not receive nearly as many positive comments from cell phone users.

However, this alone should not be the determining factor in which cell phone network that you choose to use, as both performance and service can vary dramatically from one location or area of the country to another. So a better way to get a good idea of the quality of service to you can expect from a cell phone provider in your particular area is to simply ask your family, friends and acquaintances about their experiences with their cell phone provider. No doubt, you will get quite an earful about their opinions, both positive and negative. These can be very useful if you include enough people in your informal survey, as usually clear patterns can begin to develop after you have queried enough local cell phone users.

Another consideration when selecting a cell phone provider is how you plan on using the phone on their system. There are two major digital networks that are in use in the US today, and they are CDMA and GSM. If your cell phone usage requires you to make phone calls from time to time in rural areas where there is no digital service, you’ll want to select a service provider that uses the CDMA network, because it allows for analog roaming in areas where a digital signal cannot be found.

On the other hand, if you travel internationally, you may want to consider getting a cell phone on a GSM network instead, as this kind of network is in wide usage internationally. What that means for you is that if you travel outside the US, you would be able to take your cell phone with you and use it as you normally would because of its compatibility with the overseas networks. Just check to see which kind of network is used by the cell phone providers in your area to decide on which will best fit your needs.

In order to protect yourself when choosing a cell phone service plan, it would be a good idea to only sign up for one year of service at a time. Although the cell phone companies will want to sell you service plans that cover a longer period of time and may be less expensive than the long run, it still may be best to try a cell phone provider in your area for only a year at a time to begin with, allowing you to determine the quality of their service and performance without being tied to a long-term commitment.

Hopefully, these tips and suggestions will help you find the best cell phone service plan for your needs and save you money too.

Cellular vs Satellite Phones

Let us first study how the cellular network functions.

What is a cell?

A cell may be defined as a given geographical area that is within the range of a site or, zone or, base station, which contains all network communication equipments including a radio receiver and transmitter.

What is a cellular network?

A cellular network comprises of a number of hexagonal cells each having a local transmitter, which has the inbuilt capacity to cater to the communication needs of that particular cell.

There may be many cellular network companies offering cellular services. Each cellular Network has a Cellular Communication Exchange known as MTS0 - Mobile Telephone Switching Office. It has all the details of all cells and the subscribers listed together with handset numbers.

Cellular vs. Satellite phones.

A satellite phone can be accessed from any part of the world, even from sea, or airplane, or a desert or a mountain.

A cellular phone can only be used where there is such a service, cannot be used from areas where there is no coverage, or from sea, or from air or from other remote areas such as deserts or mountains.

The quality of voice reproduction is always excellent, as the voice need not go through any cellular telephone exchange or Public Switched Telephone Network PSTN.

There is always signal loss and voice interferences found in cell phone system. Also if you are located at the peripheral area (the so called fringe areas) of a cellular site, there is bound to be a weak voice reproduction.

The coverage of cellular services is mostly limited to cities and bigger towns as it would be economically unviable to establish a cellular network if there are not enough subscribers.

A cellular phone does not require a distinct geographical location, as it is independent of regions.

Landline services cover not even 20% of earth’s landmass besides no coverage for all the areas of seas.

Satellite phone gives dependable service. Emails, text etc, in addition to voice, is also possible.

Hit Escape Twice To Go Home

A customer calls for help on her Blackberry Device…
Me: Hit Escape twice
Customer: Do you mean on my computer?
Me: No, I’m sorry, I meant on your Blackberry.

Customer: I do not see the ‘escape key’ on my Blackberry.
Me: It’s the button below the trackwheel.
Customer: You mean the thing I roll?
Me: Precisely!
Customer: (excited) Oh my goodness, I see the number by the envelope getting bigger, it’s going bananas! I see all my messages coming in now. Thank You So Much! You are a patient woman.
Me: You’re most welcome and no worries, it’s my job!

Although I thought the situation was slightly comical at first that my customer would think to hit the escape button on her computer instead of her Blackberry, it dawned on me that her rationalization might not have been very far off. With her Blackberry tethered to her computer via her USB sync cable and no true expertise on the wireless or technology world, those two devices are seemingly more closely related than we think. Both instruments can receive email independent of each other. They both have QWERTY style key boards that function similar ways and the program icons are on the home screen. You can access your Outlook contacts, calendar and tasks from both devices. They are both generally sold by salespersons that aren’t very knowledgeable on product specifics and they sell them like they are selling a piece of furniture. Out of the box it seems that both are as simple to set up as plugging them up and start using them. However, it generally turns out that neither device is very intuitive to set up and most Blackberry’s do not even come packaged with a user manual, so it is not like you can read the instructions even if you wanted to. A call into customer care (dependent on the wireless provider) for assistance with set up and configuration help usually means an hour on the phone walking through a lot of steps that is full of technical jargon and terminology that the layperson often does not understand. While hitting CTRL + ALT + DEL “reboots” a frozen computer, a “hard reset”, removing the battery and hold power button down for 60 seconds does the equivalent on a Blackberry. And who can live without either device?!?!?

The first decade of the personal computer was full of people buying individual machines, while the second decade of the personal computer was devoted to people connecting them. Now you cannot go anywhere and find a computer that is not connected to a network. With the introduction of the digital phone in the U.S. in 1994, the first decade of wireless had been consumers purchasing individual digital phones. The next decade will be people networking digital phones. This is becoming more evident with the introduction and emergence of the Blackberry and other wireless Personal Digital Assistants (PDA’s) along with new technologies like Bluetooth & Wi-Fi enabled in the devices. Although it sometimes seems like ‘everybody has one’, wireless PDA’s current penetration is actually less than 3% of the cellular market share, according to Research Firm Strategis Group. Over the next 3 years the wireless PDA market share will grow to 20% and by 2015, like every computer, every wireless handheld device will be connected to a network other than traditional cellular network somewhere.

As this transition begins to take place, IT helpdesks that are currently managing terrestrial networks within organizations and government agencies are being given the task of managing wireless resources by default. They are coming to the realization that the wireless industry is a much different animal than the IT world they are used to. Wireless IT requires a completely different level of support and has its own set of terminology. The Blackberry or wireless PDA is not like a $600 computer workstation sitting on a desk. It is a device that costs that amount and more over the course of a year. As senior level management reads about the great applications and services that are available on the wireless handheld, not enough of the end users are actually taking advantage of these services and features meaning that their ROI (Return on Investment) is ZERO. Due to lack of or non existent training, often end users have a difficult enough time just understanding how to program phone numbers and check their voice mail, traditional old school cellular tasks. The IT Helpdesk generally cannot help solve problems beyond the basics without a call into customer care themselves. This in part comes from the disconnect that while computers and handheld wireless devices are parallel today in many respects, wireless devices unlike computers are constantly in motion and communicating within multiple networks; the cellular network, the carrier data network, the corporate network and the Internet and therefore requires intense resource and physical management to make it do what you want it to do and take full advantage of what the device has to offer. Support levels need to be provided at the manufacturer and carrier level. At this time of tremendous industry growth, both have a hard time adequately staffing their customer care departments. This is where effective independent sales organizations can pick up the slack. Sales personnel who are properly trained on the capabilities of the devices they are selling can be an invaluable source of support to the customer and IT Departments struggling to adapt to the new challenges of dealing with a new technology. The current disconnect is in the customer’s willingness and to pay for the extra support or paying indirectly by having their $80,000/year IT staff on the phone for three hours with carriers and manufacturers trying to resolve a simple issue with a wireless device. And just how ironic is that? Presumably no different than thinking that a Blackberry and a computer are as vastly the same as they are different. Handheld is powering off, press any key to abort. ….Now shutting down.

Beginner’s Guide to Car Audio Installation - DIY

11/22/2008

Speaker Positioning

Speaker installation is very critical for performance. Whether you spent $1000 or $10,000 on a set of speakers, if they are not properly installed, they would not sound as they should. Even though it may seem that the best position for most speakers are in the stock housing’s that came with the car e.g. on the door panel near your feet, this is just not so. You would see why such positions are still used however along with alternative solutions such as center channels for 5.1 dolby, LCD screen, in-dash DVD players. There are many factors that need to be considered in placing the speakers in the correct position.

Distance

The first thing to consider is distance. If the left speaker is only a couple feet away from your ears, while the right speaker is several feet away from you, then the sound will arrive at different times giving you poor sound. Since the left speaker is closer, it sounds louder. The best solution is to figure out a location where the difference between the distance of the right speaker to your ears and left speaker (also known as path length difference), are minimal. This is where kick panels become the preferred location.

Multiple Speaker Placement

If you have a system with two or more speakers per side, you need to try out different locations to obtain the best possible sound in your car. If you have a 2-way system with a tweeter and sub per side. The subs are mounted in the stock location at the bottom of the door. The tweeters are mounted high up on the front corner of the door panel. From the driver’s seat, you can see that there are 4 speakers all aimed towards different orientations and all at a different distance to your ears. This interaction of sound waves at different frequencies arriving at your ears at different times seldom sounds good. The best thing to do is to position the woofer and tweeter on each side as close as possible to each other. This is also why kick panels are used so much these days. Professional installers do use some tricks such as inverting the tweeters’ polarity when mounted for example on top of the dash while the woofers are low. Achieving good sound with unconventional mounting schemes is very, very hard and is only achieved after plenty of time has been spent trying different configurations.

Aiming

Our ears can distinguish the direction of sound more easily at higher frequencies. This means that aiming the mids, and most importantly, tweeters towards your ears play a critical role in sound imaging. Midbases are not so critical, but should be also aimed towards the listener’s ears if possible. To figure out the best aiming angle involves many hours -even days- of work. To start, try to aim the speakers towards the center of the car. Play around with different angles until you obtain the best sounding position. Subwoofers should be mounted up front for best sound. Since this is not possible in most cars, mounting subs in the back is not such a bad thing, since most people can’t distinguish where bass comes from. If you have good midbases going down to 60 Hz or less and subs picking up the signal below 60 Hz, then the bass will seem to come from the front.

Enclosures

Subwoofers need a properly designed enclosure to give top performance. Midbases and mids also do sound much better if they are installed in enclosures. The best sounding and easier to build enclosure type for midbases and mids is sealed.

Mounting Speakers

If you are using speakers that fit into the stock location, make sure there are no spaces or holes. Sometimes building a wood or fiberglass baffle helps reduce holes and gives you much better sound. Always be careful when using power tools around speakers. Holes in speakers usually are not covered by the warranty. For unconventional speaker locations, sometimes metal has to be cut. If you have the resources, plasma cutters and pneumatics tools work great. For most of us that do not have these tools, a pair of metal snips (left and right cut) will do the job.

Take your time to plan your system and dont just buy brand and product for the sake of popularity. Sometimes the simplest system is the most effective.
