Motivation

06/13/2008

One of the important aspects in our life is motivation; we tend to loose our energy for many reasons quickly. Lack of energy diminishes efficiency, affects productivity, creates frustration, develops stress, makes you short temper and ends up with depression; all these affect both personal & professional life.

So, what is motivation?

Motivation is a force which drives character to overcome conflicts or is a set of forces that cause people to behave in a certain way.

Why Motivation?

I’ve specified answer for this in the start of the article, anyway we need to be motivated to consistently perform well at work, develop a better relationship with parents, siblings, friends, wife etc.

How can we be motivated?

I cannot answer to this question specifically because motivation differs from person to person. What motivates one person may only make another person angry. So, we have to understand what makes us motivated & do things that make us motivated. If you are a good reader read biographies of personalities who have made it big, watch our inspiring & motivating songs/movies. Always be optimistic, move with positive minded people.

You can make your hobbies in doing motivating things. I made a New Year resolution to collect 365 motivational quote for this year & I make it a point that I fid one new motivational quote a day. Wake up & read one motivating quote before even brushing your teeth. I wake up by read these quotes daily

a. Fortune favors the bold
b. Failure is not the end of road, but victory postponed
c. Success doesn’t come to you, you go it
d. The road to success is lined with many tempting parking spaces

This psychologically helps me to stay motivated the whole day.

Another important factor for motivation is to lead a disciplined life. Life discipline matters a lot for motivation, following things will help you to raise your energy & keeps you motivated,

1. Have a good Sleep - human body needs 6 hours of rest & that too in the night.
2. Eat at regular intervals - Don’t skip breakfast, lunch & dinner. Overeating leads to obesity & stress.
3. Humor - Humor is a best medicine to reduce stress & helps you to maintain you motivation.
4. Exercise - Regular exercise makes body & mind fit.
5. Stop Over Working - Over working makes mind tires & over long run brain stops working. It even affects your health.

All these 5 points helps you to reduce stress & improve motivation. Lots of inventions have happened when people where are exercise & on sleep. So when we reduce stress, automatically our motivation level goes up.

Yacht Charter in the Northern Cyclades

The areas prevailing wind during the summer months is the infamous Meltemi blowing from the N-NW. It is first felt in June and becomes stronger through July, August and September when it can reach force 8. It dies down in October. In the spring and autumn gales are common from the N and the SE. The summer months are hot, average temperatures are 25 deg C and temperatures often reach 35 deg C.

Kea Island is very close to Athens, it is a mountainous island and small valleys, planted with fruit-trees and vines, break up its coarse beauty. This is quite holiday spot and its numerous bays and attractive villages offer quiet relaxation in contrast to the other more popular islands in the Cyclades. Hora is the capital of the island and home to the Archaeological museum which hosts a number of Cycladic period finds.

Greek mythology has it that Kea was the residence of the nymphs of the forest springs who embodied the “liquid element”. The gods envied its beauty and sent a fearsome lion to persecute the nymphs who took escaped to Karistos. Then a long period of dryness began, water levels decreased and the vegetation withered. The islanders asked for the help of Apollo’s son Aristaios. He came to the island and built a sanctuary to honour the Ikmaios Zeus, the god of rain. The gods were pacified and the draught was reduced allowing agriculture to thrive once more.

Korissia is the port of Kea and is situated at the southern end of the Limin Ay Nikolaou in the NW of the island. The houses of the port are built around a bay, on a small plain. You can moor stern or bows to the quay keeping clear of the ferry berth. As the Meltemi blows straight on to the quay ensure your anchor is holding. Vourkari further NW in the bay also has a quay that you can moor stern or bow to. There are several other possible locations to anchor in within the bay if the weather is calm. Fuel in available in Korrisa and provisions and tavernas can be found in both Korrisa and Vourkari. During the summer months the bay is more often than not crowded with yachts from nearby Athens with picturesque Vourkari being the most popular.

Loulis, the capital of Kea, is situated 5.5 km from Korissia. Many of the old mansions are built next to the ruined castle. The ancient acropolis of Loulis and the impressive sculpture of Kea’s Lion are both worth a visit. As are the churches of Panayia Gamila and Panayia Revmatiani and the ruined monasteries of Agia Anna and Dafni.

On the coast further to the south there is an anchorage at Ormos Pisa, there are no facilities here. Further south still is the anchorage of Ormos Kavia, open only to the south it provides good shelter from the Meltemi. The taverna run by Manos can provide provisions, fuel, gas, water, ice and showers. Ormos Polais is in the SE of the island. This anchorage provides some shelter from the Meltemi but holding is not always good. There are ruins ashore including those of a temple. Khalidhoniki is a small cove in the NE of the island with good shelter from the Meltemi. The small village ashore has a taverna. Orgias is a small cove on the northern coast that should only be used to anchor in calm conditions. There are no facilities.

The barren, rocky island of Kithnos lies 6 miles to the south of Kea. Legend says that the Dryopes, who came from Eboea, settled on Kythnos in the 11th century BC. In classical times the island was a well organized city state praised by Aristotele. Excavations have found a site dating back to the Neolithic or even the Mesolithic period, making it the oldest habitation in the Cyclades. In more recent times, around 200 BC, the island was frequently attacked by the Romans although they never succeeded in taking it. The island is 19 km long and covers an area of about 80 square km. The only green shade in the heat of the summer is provided by many the fig trees. Today the island is popular with Greeks who head for its many Spas that are located in the NE of the island.

The capital of the island, Hora, stands inland on a hillside plateau, it is a typical Cycladic village with beautiful churches containing fine woodcarving, sanctuary screens and icons. On the western coast lie the bays of Apokriosis and Fikiadha. Good holding and shelter in attractive surroundings. There are good white sandy beaches. No other facilities. Further to the south lies the island’s port Merika. Moor stern or bow to the quay inside the ferry berth. The SW end of the quay shallows and yachts should go bows to. Fuel is obtainable by taxi. Most provisions are available in the village. There are several waterfront tavernas. The anchorages of Kanala and Ay Nikolos can be found in the south east of the island. They should be visited in only calm weather. There are no facilities. Further to the north on the east coast are the anchorages of Stefanos and Ioannis. They offer good shelter from the Meltemi but holding is poor in places. A limited water supply is available at Stefanos. No other facilities. The village of Loutra is in the NE of Kithnos. Go bow or stern to off the quay. Water is available on the quay and most provisions are available in the town. There are several tavernas.

Siros is another almost barren island. The north is rugged and largely uninhabited while the south has gentler slopes and is cultivated towards the coast. Ermoupolis is on the east coast. Go bow or stern to the quay avoiding the ferry berth in the east of the harbour. Reasonable shelter except with winds from the SE when a large swell comes into the harbour making it at best very uncomfortable and at worst dangerous. Another hazard is the sewage that flows into the harbour making it very smelly in the summer. Non potable water is available on the quay. Drinking water comes via a tanker. There is good shopping within the town. Plenty of tavernas around the harbour and in town. As the past capital of the Cyclades the town has a certain grandeur with many fine buildings. The small island of Nisos Gaidharos lies just to the east. A small cove in the SE corner provides good shelter from the Meltemi. There are no facilities. Varis is in the SE of Siros. Good holding and shelter from the Meltemi. There are several tavernas on the waterfront. In the SW lies the sheltered bay of Finikas. Go bow or stern to of the pier or anchor off. Holding is good. There is water on the pier and electric can be connected. Showers and toilets on the pier. Some provisions are available in the village. This is a particularly place and well worth a visit. Further to the N is Galissas. There is a small mole to the south of the bay, depths are shallow so take a long line to it. There is a mini market and tavernas ashore. Kini lies further to the north. There is a taverna ashore and limited provisions are available.

Andros is the most northern island in the Cyclades. It is mountainous and heavily wooded with limited cultivation. Gaviron is on the NW coast. You can anchor in the north of the bay or go bow or stern to or alongside the quay. There is good shelter from the Meltemi. Water is available from the village and there is fuel on the quay. Most provisions can be obtained in the village. There are tavernas on the waterfront and in the village. Batsi is a small harbour 2.5 miles SE of Gaviron. Go bow or stern to the quay or anchor in the N or W of the bay. There is water on the quay. Fuel and most provisions can be obtained in the village. There are tavernas on the beach, around the waterfront and in the village. Further to the south is the open bay of Palaioupolis. Anchor to the north of the bay where the best shelter from the Meltemi is. The waters are crystal clear and surroundings impressive. Kastro is on the E side of the island. The harbour is open to the Meltemi and entry can be difficult. Go bow or stern to behind the mole. Water, fuel and provisions can be obtained from the village. There are tavernas around the waterfront and in the village. Kastro is the capital of Andros. The walk from the harbour, around the bay to the village will be rewarded as the maritime, archaeological and modern art museums are all worth a visit. 6 miles to the south of Kastro is the open bay of Korthion. It is possible to anchor in the bay but there is little protection from the Meltemi and the accompanying swell is at best uncomfortable and could be dangerous.
There are several tavernas ashore and limited provisions can be obtained.

Tinos is yet another rugged mountainous island lying just to the south of Andros. The island is wooded and many of the slopes have been terraced there is extensive cultivation. The main port and capital is Tinos. Go bow or stern to the quay to the north of the inner harbour avoiding the ferry berth. There is good shelter in all but southerlies that produce some swell. Wash from the ferries can be uncomfortable. There is water on the quay and the locals claim it to be the purest in Greece - a claim made by several other places. Fuel can be obtained in the town, as can all provisions. There are plenty of tavernas close to the harbour. Panormos lies on the NE coast. Go bow or stern to one of the two piers, care is need with the smaller pier, as there is less than 2m depths except at it extremity. There is only limited protection from the Meltemi and it should be avoided when it is blowing.

Further to the south lies Mikinos. Perhaps the most popular tourist spot in Greece. It capital and port go by the same name and it is the town that is the island’s main attraction. Go bow or stern to the quay in the NE of the harbour. The bottom is weed and it is difficult to get the anchor to cut through. There is limited protection from the Meltemi and some consider the harbour dangerous. Mini tanker can deliver water and fuel. There are many shops in the town and all provisions can be obtained. There are numerous tavernas varying in both quality and price. Just over a mile to the north there is a modern marina. This provides good all round protection. Ornos bay is on the south coast. Anchor in the north of the bay, the bottom is sand and weed and poor holding in places. There is a supermarket nearby and several beachfront tavernas. Kalafatis, further to the east provides good protection from the Meltemi but is open to the S and E. There is a taverna ashore. On the north coast is the large bay of Panormos. It cannot be used in the Meltemi season. There is a taverna ashore.

Rinia lies to the west. Skhinou is a bay on the E coast. Anchor either in the north on sand taking care of the rocks. There is good shelter from the Meltemi. Or in the south but there is no protection from the Meltemi here. There are further anchorages at Chapel Bay, South Bay and Miso. There are no facilities at any of these anchorages.

Can a Pedigree of Royal Ancestry Help Define Self?

If someone comes from a background of Royal Bloodlines, Dynasty or some sort of Pedigree can that help them define who they are? Well it certainly could help them define or perceive who they think they are. For instance if you are a Prince of some kind then perhaps it does define who you are to a large extent, but does it necessarily have to?

This subject recently came up in an online think tank due to a discussion on Royal Lineage. When one member asked me, since I like about a million other Americans and some 6 million residents of the UK have Royal Lines in their genealogy and ancestry. Here is the question; “Lance, if I may, I have a question for you.. now with all of that said do you believe that having such a pedigree can it define who you are??”

Not completely yet it makes a difference, genetics always do? But also nurture, experience, upbringing, good family parenting, observations and of course the greatest of all the human spirit, human intent and human will. A pedigree could be good or bad, if inbreeding occurs of course. We become what we believe we are or perceive ourselves to be. You become what you think about you see.

This seems to be relevant in the study of psychology of course and is used by athletes to compete, salesmen to sell and many psycho-cybernetic experts believe there is a lot to this. In fact even if you believe it made a difference, it automatically does, whether or not it actually physically did you see? Interesting subject indeed and therefore if a Prince believe he is a prince, he automatically becomes one with that title. Consider all this 2006.

Typing 101 for Computers

06/08/2008

If you learned how to type on a typewriter or were taught to type by someone who did, you are probably making a few typographical faux pas when typing on your computer.

Single-Spacing

The most common error is double-spacing at the end of a sentence. Only one is necessary, let me explain why.

The reason why the double-space rule was applied to typewriters is because all typewriters use monotype fonts. Each letter in a monotype font is designed to have the same character width, in other words, an “m” will use the same amount of horizontal space as an “i” or an “l”. There are several monotype fonts designed for the compute, Courier is probably the most well known.

Most fonts used on computers are variable width fonts or proportionally spaced fonts and employ “kerning”. When letters are kerned, the letter spacing is adjusted to take up space relative to their actual width, so that the width between letters and letter pairs create consistent spacing.

So, there is no need for double-spacing at the end of a sentence when typing on a PC as variable width fonts automatically create the correct amount of space between sentences. In fact, double-spacing will create visual holes in a block of text that looks amateurish. If you’ll be sending your work to a graphic designer or publishing house, someone will have to replace all your double spaces with single spaces . . . a tedious job, even with ’search and replace’.

The double-spacing habit may take some time to break; but the final outcome will be more professional looking documents.

Smart Quotes and Straight Quotes

Another common mistake is using either smart quotes ( ‘ ‘ ” ” ) or straight quotes ( ” ‘ ) inappropriately. Smart quotes (also known as curly quotes) are used for dialog and apostrophes while straight quotes are used for feet and minutes (”) and for inches and seconds (’).

Microsoft Word uses straight quotes as its default; but this feature can easily be turned on or off.

  • From the Tools menus, select AutoCorrect

  • Click on the AutoFormat as You Type tab

  • Under Replace as You Type, check or uncheck “Straight Quotes” with “Smart Quotes”

  • If you’ve already typed your document with incorrect quote marks, Word can replace the quotes for you.

  • Follow the steps above

  • Use the Ctrl + H shortcut key to open the Replace tab of the Find and Replace dialog box

  • Enter ” in both the Find what and Replace with boxes

  • Click Replace All

  • To manually change your quotes, hold down the ALT key and type the numbers on the numeric keypad.

  • ALT 0145 and ALT 0146 for the left and right single quotes

  • ALT 0147 and ALT 0148 for the left and right double curly quotes.

  • When using the ALT keystrokes in Windows, use the numeric keypad to the right side of your keyboard, not the row of numbers above the alphabet and make sure Num Lock is turned ON.

    Hyphens and Dashes

A typewriter had only one dash choice - while computers offer 3 dash widths. Another mark of professionally set type is the proper use of hyphens, en dashes, and em dashes. Each is a different size and has its own proper usage. The width of en and em dashes is usually equal to the width of the lowercase n and m for the typeface in which they are used.

  • Hyphens - are used for hyphenating words and to separate characters in a phone number.

  • En dashes - are used for showing duration or range as in 11:00-3:00 or January 11th-15th.

Create en dashes with ALT 0150

  • Em dashes are the proper dashes to use instead of single or double hyphens — as punctuation. The em dash is also used to separate clauses in a sentence.

Microsoft Word will automatically replace double hyphens with an em dash.

  • Create em dashes with ALT 0151.

    Emphasis Text

With the typewriter, underlining text was the only way to emphasize text in a document. With the advent of desktop publishing we can now emphasize text using, bold, italic and bold italic.

Bold text is best used in whole lines of text such as in headings and captions or at the start of a paragraph as a design style. Bold Text shouldn’t be used to highlight words within a block of text, as it is very distracting to the eye. Italics should be used for emphasis instead, as italic text is more harmonious with surrounding text, yet clearly indicates additional importance.

Uderlined text is a hold over from the typewriter days should be avoided altogether as there are more pleasing methods to emphasize words using bold and italic. Underlined text should be reserved for use in website design and in financial or academic publications.

  • Ctrl-b for bold

  • Ctrl-i for italics

  • Ctrl-u for underline

  • By using the tips above, your documents will look professional rather than amateurish. Some of these habits will take awhile to get used to; but keep trying; the results will be worth it!

    Removing Viruses From Your Computer

One of the biggest threats that computer users are facing today is the probability of a virus invasion. It is possible that your own PC might have been infected with a virus that you have downloaded unknowingly from the internet, or copied from other removable storage Medias like floppies or compact discs. While some viruses are capable of doing extensive damage to your system, some may be completely harmless but simply annoying. Whatever the problem is, it’s always best to try and remove these malicious applications (manually or using anti-virus software) before they can cause any harm, and without deleting sensitive and important files on your computer.

There is no one set of instructions you can follow to deal with a computer virus because all viruses are different. There may be variants but each variant may behave differently and independently. The steps mentioned here are general remedies that may be used if ever your system is infected with a virus.

    Active and inactive viruses:

A virus is usually located in a file, and it can be in one of these two states: active and inactive. When the infected file has not been executed, the virus is in an inactive state, and is not necessarily harmful. In such cases it is enough to delete the file. When the infected file begins execution (when started by user, by operating system, or by another program), the virus changes its state from inactive to active, and begins to perform harmful activities on the system.

    Identify the virus:

There is a webpage for every virus that has ever been identified by anti-virus companies, that explains how the virus executes itself, and usually how to remove it and disinfect the system. Here’s one useful resource available for identifying viruses on your computer:

The Symantec Antivirus Research Center Online Encyclopedia or the McAfee Virus Information Search Center (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html): Try using these virus search engines to locate information about the virus on your computer. The Symantec search is capable of identifying viruses according to the symptom experienced by the system (such as the subject line of the email message that contained the virus or the error message the virus causes on the computer), but it’s best if you know the name of the virus beforehand. Also remember that different computer viruses produce different “symptoms”.

    Using Anti-virus Software:

Once the virus has been identified, the best thing to do next is to run an anti-virus software, scan and clean the system. If you have anti-virus software on your computer (most users do), make sure the software is up-to-date.

Most anti-virus software run periodical, scheduled or manual scans on your computer according to preference, and if fully updated, will promptly identify any malicious activity or files on your system. You then have the options of deleting, quarantining or analyzing the virus depending on the type of antivirus you employ. If you’re not too acquainted with the software, the only recommendation is to immediately delete the file, thereby eliminating any threat posed to your system’s security.

    Protect yourself from future threats:

Once you have removed the virus(es), it would be a good time to make sure your computer is protected from future threats by following these simple steps:

1.Make sure the anti-virus software on your computer is always up-to-date

2.Run real-time protection if your anti-virus has the feature (most anti-virus software do)

3.Do not download or run any suspicious or unrecognized email attachments or file from the internet

4.Always run your anti-virus and scan any removable storage Medias before using them

    Contact technical support:

If you can’t solve the problem yourself, you should contact technical support immediately by phone or email. Every anti-virus company has one. They will be able to help and guide you. Do not take any drastic steps, like formatting any of your drives, if you don’t have prior experience.

    What Is Web Hosting

Many businesses, from one-man-bands to multi-national corporations, have a web-presence these days. i.e. They have a website telling their customers about their companies: what they do, where they’re based, their company history, how they’re different from their competitors, etc. Many of these businesses also sell products and/or services online.

If you own a business and wish to have a presence in cyberspace, then you need to consider buying a package from a web hosting company.

Web hosting refers to the process of renting computer space and bandwidth (data transfer capacity) from a company so that you can make your website visible to the outside world.

Put simply, you buy an allocated space on a computer from a hosting company, then transfer the files of your website to this computer. Your website then becomes available to users around the world, and this enables them to browse your website, as well as download files and buy products and services from you.

    Domain Name

First of all, you need to choose a domain name for your website. A domain name is simply an address for your website. Examples are www.microsoft.com and www.yahoo.com. Avoid choosing a domain name which is too long or too complicated for users to remember.

    Design Your Website

There are three ways to get your website designed:

    1. You can do it yourself. There are many website authoring software packages available on the market. Two popular packages are Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia Dreamweaver. With these programs, you can design and edit your web pages easily and see instantly how they will look to the users.

    2. Some companies offer an easy way for you to create your website by providing templates for you to choose from. With this type of service, all you have to do is choose a layout from a number of pre-defined templates, select some color, font and graphics options, enter some text, and you’ll end up with a decent-looking website.

    3. Get a web design company to do it for you. This is the most expensive option but you will end up with a more professional and stylish website, looking exactly the way you want it to look.

    Getting a web host

Now that you have chosen your domain name and have designed your website, you need to find a web hosting company.

There are thousands of hosting companies out there. Search the web for a company with a good reputation and offers the kind of services you need. Friends may be able to recommend a reputable company. We recommend <www.frontierpowerhosting.com>.

Next, select a web hosting package to suit your needs and sign up for an account. Usually you’ll pay for the hosting service by credit card online. If you have not already registered your domain name elsewhere, you’ll have the option to do so with your hosting company.

Once payment has been processed, you’ll receive a confirmation email with details about your hosting package. Take some time to read this email carefully as it contains information on how to log on to your hosting account.

Next you’ll have to upload all the HTML pages, graphics and other files on to your web space. This can be done via the control panel on your website, or by using an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program such as CuteFTP.

Now that your website is online, users from around the world will be able to view it, so make sure that the information it contains (such as your email address and telephone number) is up-to-date. This is particularly important if you will be using your website to sell products and services.

Climber from Nepal, 76, oldest man to reach the top of Chomolungma

Sherchan just 17 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the mountain. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though the mountain is shared by two countries. They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

More than 3234 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

Now that Andrew Brash has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. He was reported in good health as he began making his descent. “Chomolungma or Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

Min Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Chomolungma. Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism. This season French climber Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for Everest after reaching the peak of Kilimanjaro earlier this year.

His first found him within 166 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. One year later, Andrew Brash, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Mount Everest to finish what he had started.

Further, he was all too aware of the potential dangers the mountain could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Min Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. The 76-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of the Mount Everest. As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Mt Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the mountain and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Therefore, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey.

    Choosing Tennis Shoes

    06/06/2008

Good tennis shoes do several things apart from covering your feet, and tennis is a sport, that is very hard on shoes, and feet, so you need to find a shoe that will last, and one that is not too heavy, bearing in mind some factors.

Tennis shoes must be able to support your feet with all the stops and starts you have to make, and it must give you good support at the sides of your feet. Each surface has differing requirements, and all of us have different types of feet, all of which places different demands on your tennis shoes.

The first consideration is what type of feet you have, because that will determine how much cushioning you will need, and what and where you will need lateral support.

There are three basic foot types:

    1. SUPINATED - here your wear is on the outside of the shoes
    2. PRONATED - here your wear is on the inside around the ball of the foot, and this type of foot suffers the most with injuries from overuse.
    3. IDEAL - here the wear is even.

Either get a fellow player to walk behind you to determine whether you are walking with your foot tilting inwards, or outwards, or not at all. Better still find yourself a well-qualified sports shoe person. You could also test yourself by wetting your feet and standing on a square of cardboard.

    1. If there is a large are where the arch of your feet didn’t touch you are SUPINATED
    2. If the whole of your foot is marked, looking like a rectangle with slight curves then you are OVERPRONATED
    3. If your feet leaves an imprint that is a balance between the others then your foot is IDEAL

Confirm this self-diagnosis with a third party watching you walk, and the wear test on your current shoes.

THE FIT OF THE TENNIS SHOE is vital, and points to pay particular attention to are as follows.

    1. You need about half an inch of space between your longest toe and the end of the tennis shoe.
    2. The foot should be a comfortable fit without any stretching
    3. The heel should not slip, although some movement is wanted.

Just remember your feet are different sizes, so pick your size according to the larger foot, and use an insole to balance up your smaller foot.
The most important thing in a tennis shoe is LATERAL SUPPORT because much of your running on a court is side to side, and there are dangers of turning your ankle. Good lateral support is necessary if you are heavy and if you are pronated.

Your tennis shoes will need a degree of CUSHIONING and SHOCK ABSORPTION.
This is especially true if you are a baseliner, and you play most of your tennis on hard courts. Pronated feet jar most easily.

The two most common cushioning you read about are EVA, which is lightweight, but not very durable, or stable, and PU[polyurethane] which is denser, better stability, but it is a lot heavier.

FLEXIBILITY is important, and tennis shoes must bend easily at the ball of the foot, however too much flexibility makes for a shoe that won’t be comfortable.

At the end of the day, comfort is important, and tennis shoes are no different to anything else, you tend to get what you pay for, and I know very few things of quality that are cheap!!
